If have answered no to any of the above questions, you may be unknowingly exposing your employees and equipment to injury and damage from the effects of an ARC Flash incident.
In the event of such an incident you may not only be faced with the cost in human terms, but could also loose the ability to carry on production.
Did you know that in a great many cases where it was felt that there was no risk of an ARC Flash occurring there was in fact a very high level of risk of such an incident taking place!
WHAT CAN I DO?
| STEP 1. CARRY OUT A FULL RISK ASSESSMENT |
| STEP 2. CARRY OUT AN ARC FLASH STUDY |
| STEP 3. FROM THE RESULTS OF STEPS 1 AND 2 IMPLEMENT APPROPRIATE AND SUFFICIENT CONTROLS MEASURES WHICH AS FAR AS REASONABLY PRACTICABLE OBVIATE THE NEED FOR PPE |
| STEP 4. IF IT IS IDENTIFIED THAT EVEN AFTER ALL POSSIBLE CONTROL MEASURES HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE THERE IS STILL RESIDUAL RISK THAT CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED BY OTHER MEANS THEN ISSUE SUITABLE PPE WHICH HAS BEEN CALCULATED TO BE CERTAIN TO OFFERA LEVEL OF PROTECTION WHICH EXCEEDS THE INCIDENT ENERGY VALUE AS CALCULATED IN STEP 2. |
